Here's 6 Reasons Why Everyone Is So Drawn To Nancy Meyers's Films without Even Realizing It

its complicated house

Ask anyone if they’ve seen It’s Complicated and the conversation invariably turns to Jane’s wooded, Spanish-style residence. So, it’s no surprise that I began cyber-stalking the place immediately upon finishing the movie. Unfortunately though, I couldn’t find much information about the home anywhere. Love the casual feel of slip-covered chairs. I think that’s a giant bowl of faux artichokes on the coffee table.

KOOBOO COFFEE TABLE

Candlelight is one of my favorite parts of having a party. Just soothes and creates such an inviting atmosphere. Despite fine work by an appealing cast, It's Complicated is predictable romantic comedy fare, going for broad laughs instead of subtlety and nuance.

The couple plans to keep as much of the house's original design as possible. They are still in the process of getting the permits they need to start construction. There was a lot of mold and potentially hazardous areas in the house, that the couple tackled themselves.

I love that the bedside tables do not match. They aren’t even the same shape, much less matching in finish. It makes for a much more interesting look than if they were just matching bedside tables.

Agness (rhymes with ssss) has a perfect body but a petulant expression, and for the life of us, we can't figure out why Jake left the merry Meryl for her. Running into his first wife at their son's graduation, he's moved by memories of their past. At the bar of her hotel, she unwisely orders a Tanqueray martini, dry, with a lemon twist, just before Jake walks in.

Interior Design Ideas.

In real life, vegetable gardens are not usually this beautiful and manicured! Chock-full of detail while mixing-and-matching classic and trendy elements, Meyers's sets are perfect emblems of the Pinterest era. That's no surprise, as Meyers once told AD that she develops the sets from mood boards and the pinnable social-media site. Her movie homes have inspired numerous Pinterest boards themselves, with obsessive fandoms to match.

ACCENT CHAIRS ASST FABRICS LOVE!!!

We see the artichoke theme carried into this room, too. We get a view of how the armoire looks open when Jake is over one evening spending time with the children. Here’s a little better view of the long console table. You can see there are two lamps, one on each end. Jane has a vegetable garden that I think most of us would just about die to have.

Belongs to "It's Complicated," the recently released Santa Barbara-set flick starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin. We know, NYC, you have a cameo, but the movie lingers, for several shots, on the American Riviera's famous red-tile roofs and beachy environs. The poolhouse banquette cushions are of a Perennials fabric. At the bottom of this post, I share a few places to find Nancy Meyers style decor, as well as some of my favorite pieces.

CHECKED CHAIR ASST COLORS STYLES

The plates and bowl on the left counter are by Carolina Irving & Daughters. Although Nancy Meyers interiors are decidedly upscale, adopting this look doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. I had a lot of fun putting this post together, and I hope you enjoyed taking a look at some of the best Nancy Meyers interiors.

There’s something so comforting about a Nancy Meyers movie. Somehow she manages to make all of the interiors feel both aspirational and accessible. I love all the homey details in The Intern kitchen–fresh herbs in clay pots, wooden utensils corralled in an earthenware crock, jars filled with culinary essentials, the parade of pitchers on the top shelf. More than just a look, Nancy Meyers interiors evoke a feeling I want to create in our home–elevated, comfortable, calm, and collected. Over the years, I think I’ve embraced nearly every decorating style–from shabby chic to farmhouse to modern coastal–and just about everything in between. Jake married the much younger Agness (Lake Bell), another of those people who mess with the spelling of their names to make it hard on everybody.

A weed wouldn’t dare poke it’s head out of the ground in this garden. During the movie, Jane and Jake find themselves back together again at their son, Luke’s graduation and before you know it, they are having an affair. Jane now finds herself in the role of the mistress to her ex-husband. She is now cheating with her ex-husband on the woman who broke up their marriage.

Something’s Gotta Give ignited such devotion, that I suspect if a class was given on this house hoards of blog readers would sign up for it. Why was orange chosen for so many of the accents in this set design? Nancy Meyers reportedly noticed she was drawn to films where there was lots of orange and wanted to follow suit.

Notice the river rocks that surround the pool. The house has that simple and comfortable feel like all haciendas have. The house is incredibly charming and I love the oak trees. It's par for the course for the producer/director of It's Complicated, Something's Gotta Give, The Holiday, Father of the Bride and What Women Want. If you have a moment to swoon…visit a stunning real-life Belgian house tour of my friend Greet’s house tour HERE. When I gazed closer at screenshots from “It’s Complicated,” I noticed there were more pops of orange than I realized, such as a clear glass trifle dish holding oranges.

She abandoned the plan, sold the place next door, and has stayed happily ensconced here—with some recent “freshening up”—ever since. The house where “It’s Complicated” was filmed is for sale and I’m sharing all the pictures with you today. “It’s Complicated” was filmed in this house which is located in Hidden Valley, California. And the “It’s Complicated’ house is not different, the surroundings are truly picturesque and the Spanish hacienda house is beautifully appointed. There is no dining room shown for the REAL house – so let’s look at the movie house dining room. The dining room lies between the living room and the kitchen.

The light fixture over the table is by Paul Ferrante. The property is located on over 100 acres that is shared by three lots. All three lots were recently packaged together for sale, but apparently, three different families bought each separate lot. Here, you can see the white fences that surround the house, just like shown in the movie. The set of Something’s Gotta Give, built on a sound stage, shows the swimming pool that sits between Jack’s bedroom and Diane’s bedroom. You can see it looks nothing like the “real” house.
